ANTHONY FABER 18* 18
Eligible Ballots 199224 189314 Total: 195501 3723
Exhausted Ballots 26146 36056 Undervotes 29169
Total Ballots 225370 225370 Overvotes 700

To understand the difference between the Pre-RCV and RCV vote totals,

  1. A number of undervotes reported were, in fact, advanceable ballots (Difference column)
  2. The RCV algorithm advances those ballots and sums them in Pass 1.
  3. The candidate(s) with the lowest vote total is selected for elimination (indicated with an asterisk * )

The number of Eligible Ballots (for Pass 1) is:

  • The number of ballots with a mark for a candidate in the 1st choice, plus those whose marks were advanced.

The number of Exhausted Ballots is:

  • The number of undervotes minus the number of advanced ballots, plus the number of overvotes (invalid votes for multiple candidates)

RCV Treasurer Nov 2005

Since one candidate received more than 50% +1 of the votes cast, the ranked-choice method was not applied to this contest for the November 22, 2005 preliminary results report.

RCV City Attorney Nov 2005

Only one candidate has qualified to have his name on the ballot for the City Attorney contest, and there are no qualified write-in candidates for this contest. As there is only one candidate, there is no need to use the run-off tabulation to determine the winner. What follows is information about the one qualified candidate only.

Please note that the Department of Elections printed ballots for this contest with a first-choice, second-choice and third-choice column, even though there is only one qualified candidate, because the deadline for printing ballots passed before the deadline for qualifying as a write-in candidate. Because it was impossible to know whether there would be write-in candidates for this contest at the time ballots were printed, and because the Department must provide for the possibility of write-in candidates, the ballots include a first-choice, second-choice and third-choice column for this contest.
